Brazil initiates anti-dumping investigation on polyether polyols from China & USA. Understand the product scope, investigation periods, and impact on exporters.

On January 5,2024,the Brazilian Ministry of Development,Industry,Trade,and ServicesThe Secretariat (Ministry of Development,Industry,Trade and Services/Secretariat of Foreign Trade) issued Notice No.1 of 2024,officially announcing the initiation of an anti-dumping investigation into certain polyether polyols originating from China and the United States.This action was taken in response to an application submitted by the Brazilian domestic company,Dow Brasil Sudeste Industrial Ltda.on July 31,2023.

The dumping investigation period of this anti - dumping investigation is set from April 2022 to March 2023,and the injury investigation period covers from April 2018 to March 2023.The release of the announcement marks the official entry into force of the investigation,and it will further examine whether there is dumping behavior in the relevant products exported from China and the US to Brazil and whether they have caused injury to the Brazilian domestic industry.

During the investigation process,relevant exporters/producers,importers,and other domestic producers will receive questionnaires.Interested parties are required to submit their responses within 30 days of receiving the questionnaire through

submitting their responses.In addition,interested parties can also apply for a hearing within 5 months from the date of the start of the investigation,in order to more directly express their views and concerns.This provides a platform for all parties involved in the case to ensure the fairness and transparency of the investigation process.
