South Korea tightens export rules for Russia & Belarus, adding 243 non-strategic items. Learn about the expanded 'catch-all' list and stricter enforcement.

Yonhap News Agency reported on September 5 that the South Korean government has further expanded its export control measures on Russia and Belarus,and will in principle ban the export of non - strategic items that can be used for military purposes to these two countries.

Korea Expands Export Controls to Russia & Belarus

The Ministry of Trade,Industry and Energy of South Korea announced that the amendment to the “35th Strategic GoodsNotice” including the above - mentioned content will come into force on September 9.This amendment adds 243 items to the “catch - all” list.The newly added items include metal cutting and processing machinery,machine tool parts,optical instrument parts,sensors,etc.This move has increased the total number of items under comprehensive export control by South Korea on Russia and Belarus to 1402.

In addition,in view of the recent increase in cases of “circumvented exports”,the Ministry of Trade,Industry and Energy of South Korea plans to increase administrative penalties for violations to strengthen the enforcement of export controls.
