Rhodiola is a herbaceous plant that grows in alpine and pollution - free areas at an altitude of 1800 - 2700 meters, especially widely distributed in Tibet,Xinjiang,Yunnan,Gansu,Qinghai,Jilin and Inner Mongolia in China. However, due to over - grazing and unplanned excavation, the population of Rhodiola has been declining, and some Rhodiola populations even face the threat of extinction in the wild. Therefore, the Announcement of the National Forestry and Grassland Administration and the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs (No.15,2021) listed it in the second - level national key protected wild plants list.

II.International Trade and Compliance Requirements of Rhodiola

In February 2023,the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES) that came into effect included Rhodiola in Appendix II,meaning that its import and export need to meet a series of regulatory requirements.First,it is necessary to conduct a query through the species catalog to confirm whether a certificate is required. For the import and export of Rhodiola and its products within the scope of the appendices of CITES,a certificate of approval for the import and export of endangered species of wild fauna and flora of the Peoples Republic of China under CITES is required; while for the export of Rhodiola and its products that are not included in the appendices of the Convention but are under key national protection,a certificate of approval for the import and export of wild fauna and flora of the Peoples Republic of China is required.
